Absolutely Incredible Kid Day(AIKD) is celebrated annually on the third Thursday in March, this year on March 15, 2016. Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is a national letter-writing campaign urging adults to write letters of love and support to the children in their lives.
AIKD is a day designated to honor our nation's youth. Adults and teens are asked to write, post, tweet, and tag (#AIKD) notes of encouragement and inspiration. It is a simple, meaningful way to let youth know how much they are appreciated. Lives are changed by this simple act of love and kindness.
Origins:
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day was created by Campfire USA to celebrate incredible kids. For the longest time kids have been subjected to Mother's Day and Father's Day with no special day to call their own. Finally Campfire USA has established a day just for kids.
Campfire USA decided to have a letter writing campaign for a few reasons. A letter or note is something that the child can feel, keep and remember for years to come. A few simple words can do wonders for a child's self esteem. You can slip the note under a pillow or in their lunch sack as a secret surprise to brighten their day.
According to Camp Fire USA, well-known business leaders, actors, musicians, sports figures, and even presidents have participated in and supported Absolutely Incredible Kids Day.
The goal of Camp Fire USA for Absolutely Incredible Kids Day is for all children in America to receive a letter. They offer several ways that adults can help them reach the goal in addition to personally writing letters. Camp Fire USA suggests taking 10 minutes out of the workday for employees to each write a letter.
