How to draw a turtle
In this lesson, draw a nice little turtle of your very own.
You will need:
- Pencil
- Pen
- Eraser
- Paper
- Colored pencils or crayons
- Ruler (suggested)
Jeff's Tips & Ideas : Use lightly sketched pencil lines first for the structure. After, use a pen to draw in the final lines. When you're finished, erase the underlying pencil lines to reveal your drawing. Then - color it!
Let's start! Follow step by step our easy indications below !
STEP 1
Draw a simple framework, composed of basic shapes. Be sure to keep your penciled lines nice and light. Later, you can go over your structure with a dark, permanent pen or marker. The penciled lines will easily erase with a kneaded eraser when you're finished. The cross over the head circle is helpful for positioning the features of the face.
STEP 2
Easy mapping out of the structure before-hand. Keeping things nice and simple as always! :-)
STEP 3
Draw the face.
STEP 4
Sketch in the head and neck.
STEP 5
Draw the base of the shell first, then the top.
STEP 6
Draw in the front legs.
STEP 7
Next - go ahead and sketch in the back legs and tail. Notice how the back legs are just 'mirrors' of the front ones!? Simple stuff! :-)
STEP 8
Alas!... you're turtle is complete. And look - I changed the mouth a bit... you can too if you like. See what you can come up with.
Color it with the colors of your imagination. And there we are - an adorable little cartoon turtle. :-)
