Make a Christmas Votive Decoration

Make a Chinese Christmas Paper Votive Lantern -

A fun Christmas craft for kids to decorate your home for the holidays. The Christmas votives can be made in different colors.

How to make a Christmas Chinese Paper Lantern:

Fold your paper in half lengthwise.
Draw a line one inch from the end of the long edge of the paper opposite the folded edge. This will be the line where you stop cutting.
Measure and mark lines one inch apart starting at the folded edge and moving towards the "stop cutting" line. (see video)
Cut on the marked lines up to the top line.
Decorate the cut piece of paper with glitter and sequins.
Use a piece of rice paper to make a tube around the glass jar and staple. Wrap the decorated cut piece of paper around the rice paper securing the bottom with staples.
Flip the paper and push the paper down so that it puffs out in the middle and secure with staples.
Light the votive and place in the glass jar.
Place the paper tube design over the glass jar.
You can now enjoy your beautiful Chinese Christmas votive lantern.
Make as many Christmas lanterns as you wish and display them around your home.
