Name Plaque made of Salt Dough:
What you need:
- Salt dough (click for printable recipe)
- Old newspapers to protect your work space
- Green paint
- Different size paint brushes.
- Beads or other decorative element
- Rolling pin
- Small round toe chisel
- Pencil
- Stem of cotton swab
- Ribbon or thin rope
How To
- First, prepare your dough. Knead ingredients well with your hands until you get a big, smooth ball
- Take a piece of dough and make it a big ball. Put it before you flattened it and then spread it with the rolling pin. Make a rectangle of dough long enough for your name.
- Laying the beads one by one to form the letters of your name.
- Once you have finished composing your name with beads, cut the dough with scissors to make your plaque edges straight.
- Make two small holes at the top with the tip of a pencil.
- Leave everything to dry undisturbed for about 24 hours.
- Once the dough is dry, you can either leave the plate that color, or paint it. If you decide to paint it, you might as well put the paint on the beads. It does not matter! The trick is that immediately after painting you gently withdraw the beads with a slightly damp cotton swabs. It's a bit long, but result is worth it!
- There you just have to make the hanger for your name plate with a string or ribbon by feeding it through the holes at the top and tie together.
And that's how you make an awesome name plaque!
