Scooby Doo Bracelets

Have you forgotten the art of Scooby Doo? Do your parents remember doing this when they were younger? Giving a colorful Scooby doo to someone for Christmas or your friends birthday is an original gift they will enjoy to receive. You could make a bracelet, necklace or keychain holder.

What is Scooby Doo?

Scooby-Doo is a fashion of the early 1960s, which was revived in the 1980s using soft colorful plastic tubing. The strands are braided to make keyrings, bracelets and other fun things.

How to make a Scooby Doo

• Choose 2 different colored strands
• To begin your Scooby Doo you can begin with or without a loop

If you're planning to be able to hang your Scooby Doo, it is best to choose the model without a loop. Once completed, you can use the remaining strands to create the hanging loop somewhere in the knot.

Scooby Doo with loop:

Take one of the strands in the middle and fold in half to form a loop. With the loop surrounding the other wire and make a tight knot, ensuring that the length of the second wire is approximately the same on both sides of the knot. To make it easier, ask someone else to help you by holding the loop while you make the knot. You now have a strand and 4 loops that you used to make your Scooby Doo.

Scooby Doo without a loop:

To the starting point of your Scooby Doo poses as a flat yarn and repeats the middle. Pass the second wire Scooby Doo below, up to about the middle, and then make a knot around the first. You can help yourself by using a pen, as shown in the illustration below (secure the first part of the node then removes the pen and pass the second wire into the hole.

Now you can you start designing your Scooby Doo!  Now, we will make an example using a blue and pink wire. Once you have made the starting node (with or without loop), here the operation you will have to repeat several times to "mount" your Scooby Doo: 

Take the blue strand and then pass it to the other side, forming a small loop. Bring it through the small square in front of the opposite (diagonally). Hold it firmly and then do the same with the opposite blue, passing it to the other side in turn. You end up with 2 blue curls.

Then take the pink wire left and pass it to the farthest (the one on your right) loop.

Take the pink wire that remains then pass it through the left loop.

Take 4 strands one after another until you complete a small square. 

Redo the same procedure several times.

How do you complete the Scooby Doo? 

You have two possibilities:

• Either you cut the protruding strand and you ask an adult to burn some ends to stop the strand (you can also tie a knot with the strand taking them two by two before burning the ends)
• Or you equalize the length of the remaining strands and use to hang your Scooby Doo somewhere or you use keychain! 

By doing so, you will get a round mesh. If you prefer a square grid, just as you bring the blues strand on the small square in the face without the diagonal position. Look at the pictures below to better understand:
