- Jefferson grew up in a wealthy family in Virginia.

- Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President of The United States of America from 1801 to 1809 and founder of the Democratic-Republican Party. As President, one of his greatest accomplishments was increasing the size of the country when he bought Louisiana from France.
- He designed the Virginia Capitol and the University of Virginia. He also invented the lap desk and developed the decimal system of coinage that is the basis of American money - dollars and cents.
