Fabric Bookmarks
Here is a series of creative fashion bookmarks that are easy to make and will guide you to keep your place with any book. These are just examples, you can of course vary the shapes, colors and designs according to your tastes.
Sample 1: Shooting Star Bookmark
Materials Needed:
- Yellow cardboard paper
- Blue and gold glitter
- A plastic plate (or other media where to put the paint)
- Blue paint and gold paint
- Brush
- 2 pieces of wet sponge
- Blue pencil
- Scissors
- Rule
- Tape
Steps:
- Cut a rectangle of about 7 inches wide and 9 inches long with the yellow drawing paper.
- Print the template on the bottom of this page
- To create the stencil cut paper within each shape with scissors.
- Put your stencil on the rectangle of the drawing paper, and fixed well by putting a bit of tape around it for example.
- Prepares some paint - blue and gold color on the plastic plate. One sponge is used for the blue paint and the second sponge is used for the gold paint. Moistens them before using them and wringing them well.
- Place the sponge into the paint and blot the stencil to lay down the color. Before the paint dries, sprinkle some glitter on the painted shapes by rubbing them between your fingers.
- Leave to dry and then gently remove the stencil ... there you just have to draw some lines in colored pencil to make the shooting stars!
Sample 2: Floral Bookmark
Material Needed:
- Sheet of brown cardstock
- scissors
- Ruler
- Purple felt
- a piece of purple silk paper
- Dried flower with its stalk (flower that gets picked and left to dry for a few days between two pages of a book)
- Glue
Steps
- Cut a rectangle of about 3 inches wide and 9 inches long in brown Cardstock paper.
- Trace a purple outline to create a frame with purple felt and ruler
- Glue the tissue paper in the center of the bookmark.
- Then glue on top of the dried flower.
Sample 3: Triangle Bookmarks
Material Needed:
- Violet cardstock paper
- Scotch painter paper tape (comes off easily)
- Blue paint
- A plastic plate (or other media where to put the paint)
- A piece of sponge
- Scissors
How to make a fabric triangle bookmark
- Cut a rectangle of about 3 inches wide and 9 inches long in violet colored cardstock paper.
- Place lines of tape diagonally on the bookmark so it appears like triangles.
- Dip your wet sponge in blue paint and dab on all places where there is no tape.
- Wait for the paint to dry and then gently remove the tape.
Sample 4: Circle Bookmark
What you need:
- Blue cardstock paper
- Scissors
- yellow, orange and red paint
- 3 pieces of sponge
- a plastic plate (or other media where to put the paint)
Steps
- Cut a rectangle of about 3 inches wide and 9 inches long with the blue cardstock paper.
- Print the circles template at the bottom of this page.
- To create the stencil cut paper within each circle with scissors.
- Place the stencil on the bookmark and then fixed it by putting tape around the sheet.
- Place each sponge in one of three colors of paint and then dab the sponge in the place of the circle.
- Let dry, then gently remove the stencil.
