Witches are all about hocus pocus!
Witches have had a long history associated with Halloween. Ugly and evil go hand in hand. Images of witches are typically old, wicked, ugly, big noses, long boney fingers, wearing a black tattered dress and hat, sitting around a metal cauldron making potions and casting spells. Witches are identified with witchcraft, flying broomsticks, black cats, brewing pots, spider-webs, frogs and bats. While many movies have depicted witches as described above there have been a few portrayed as beautiful and nice. Did you know that the word Witch means "wise woman"? Once considered wise and a knowledgeable during much affliction. The witch now is one of the most celebrated monsters of Halloween and is one of the most popular costume to dress up as for Halloween parades, costume parties and of course trick or treating. You can dress up as myths and folklore characterize witches or put a modern twist to your costume. It is always fun to dress up as an enchanted witch and pretend to have a flying broom and use magic spells!
